+1  Me too.  Her kids all seem pretty functional--the eldest is a doctor.   Melinda could have been a Lauren Sanchez and just hang around celebrities on a yacht all day.  But she's gone to the poorest countries in the world and tried to help bring medicine and clean water.  And I think her new org is focused specifically on helping poor women. [/quote]

Wow, some of the posts here are totally bonkers.  Melinda has been speaking out on behalf of the most vulnerable populations in the world for decades and she has sat for many, many interviews, so before you judge her, I recommend that you go on YouTube and listen to her first.  She cares about providing free birth control to women in extremely impoverished areas and actually spends the money to make it happen.  She is an amazing speaker and non-profit leader.

I'm with Bernie, we don't need billionaires. At least she's been using her voice and power to help women and girls. To the PP who complained about her charities in other countries, in the first place as above, you're wrong, she does support women and girls in the US. Secondly, you should do some reading. Global health crises and poverty bring problems to you right here in the US. From a selfish point of view, providing assistance to foreign countries benefits you. In the third place, I don't know how to explain that you should care about other people so I guess I'll leave it at that.[/quote]
