Money doesn't cure heart-ache. It doesn't prevent stress and panic attacks. I know, I have millions but suffer from a panic disorder.
Also, did you know that Bill deeply regrets his divorce? Called it the worst mistake of his life.
This break-up was incredibly painful for both of them.
Have some dammed respect, OP.
Why did they get divorced?

Does anybody really care about her story? Probably not. But, the publisher will make some money and she will make some money, so all good.

I think she had to be very patient being married to Bill. He is brilliant but seems very detached and probably was not the most involved husband or father.
+1 Me too. Her kids all seem pretty functional--the eldest is a doctor. Melinda could have been a Lauren Sanchez and just hang around celebrities on a yacht all day. But she's gone to the poorest countries in the world and tried to help bring medicine and clean water. And I think her new org is focused specifically on helping poor women.
Wow, some of the posts here are totally bonkers. Melinda has been speaking out on behalf of the most vulnerable populations in the world for decades and she has sat for many, many interviews, so before you judge her, I recommend that you go on YouTube and listen to her first. She cares about providing free birth control to women in extremely impoverished areas and actually spends the money to make it happen. She is an amazing speaker and non-profit leader.
So much jealousy on dcum.
Charity begins at home and she has done nothing for American women. With her billions she could easily have a program to pay for travel to blue states for women in Red states with draconian abortion laws.
Since her divorce she's been pouring money into reproductive rights for American women. Maybe you should pay a little more attention.

I could maybe understand why you might listen to a free podcast interview, but even that might get boring.

"Bill Gates and Melinda Gates had an unusual agreement where Bill would spend a long weekend every year with his ex-girlfriend, Ann Winblad, at her beach cottage in North Carolina.
Melinda's Approval:
Melinda Gates reportedly approved of this arrangement, which was part of the deal when they married in 1994.
Nature of the Trips:
These trips were described as platonic and involved activities like dune buggy riding, discussing biotechnology, watching movies, and exploring advanced subjects like bioengineering and physics.
Friendship:
Bill Gates and Ann Winblad met at a computer conference in the 1980s, and their romantic relationship ended in 1987, but their friendship remained.
Public Statements:
In a 1997 Time magazine profile, Gates mentioned the arrangement, saying, "We can play putt-putt while discussing biotechnology".
Divorce Context:
The details of this arrangement resurfaced after Bill and Melinda Gates announced their divorce in 2021.
Personally, This is not an arrangement I would not agree to.
