I live in Florida and just emailed my two Republican Senators to ask them to please save NWS and NOAA. I cannot even imagine how devastating this year's hurricane season will be without these two agencies. I don't expect either of them to respond - or even to take me seriously. But my gd I hope they do.
This kind of post is crazy. We keep doing this. We think of the absolute best political spin argument we could use against Republicans, "We CAN'T layoff any government bureaucrats/DNC activists, they are too busy SAVING LIVES," and then we adopt it in our minds as a neutral fact. Maybe this poster is just politicking, but it seems like she's heartfelt. She really believes that MANY LIVES WILL BE LOST during hurricane season in Florida this year if any DC bureaucrats get laid off. Lady, this is dcurbanmoms. Why are you even posting here if your residence and your Senators are in Florida? And why are you posting silly hysterics to a sophisticated audience of DNC elites, lobbyists, spin-meisters, etc.? We all know how the system works, we all know how the civil service works, and none of us actually believe that Florida hurricanes become "more devastating" without NWS and NOAA. Lady, these bureaucrats do not rescue houses. They can't reduce property damage. That's not what they do. And if people about to be hit by a hurricane really think the NWS data is 10% more precise than the private weather data, they can evacuate a few hours earlier instead of waiting until the absolute last second. There will be no extra "devastation." Sheesh.
Again, there is no “private weather data”. Commercial companies simply repackage government data and model forecasts.
