that is so stupid! why wouldnt they just have her make ftiends with a black family (minstrel show aside.. i have the original books and the dr who treated Mary was black and they dont really say anything anti-black). the should do an Anne with an E style reboot.  Speaking of which- there are more racial slurs in LM montgomery's works than in Laura Ingalls wilders!!

I cannt belive people are complaining that she treated her father with respect and didnt air teh family's dirty laundry. She also didnt put in her little brothers deatj which was devestatong for them b?c she didnt think it was appropriate for such young kids. There is also Prairi lotus which we absolutely LOVED - its a book in the spirit if the little house books but writen by someone with Chinese ancestory which is also accurate for the times and wholesome at the same time.  The betsy tacy books are also very good reading. and the moffats[/quote]
