How much energy is wasted by all these separate washes? Do people do several small loads of white things rather than one big one?
I’m OP. Maybe you didn’t read that DH goes through 20 shirts (daily, workout, pajamas), 20 pairs of pants, socks, underwear, and 10-12 towels every week. In the winter there are also sweaters and sweatshirts. He easily has 4 big loads of laundry. We aren’t doing tiny separate loads.
That's a disgusting amount of clothing he goes through. Why is he wearing 20 pairs of underwear a week? I understand changing them after your workout, then shower, but is he changing underwear multiple times a day? Why can't he use the same towel for a week straight? 10-12 towels is wild. Mine are still very clean after I use them... I also wear pajamas more than once.
This. Your husband is correct in theory, IMO, that a SAH should do the laundry BUT he is generating an insane and completely unnecessary quantity of laundry. Unless he wants to get his act together and not be so wasteful, he can deal with his ridiculous habits himself.
