Dating sites or so incredibly bad for dating. I'm finally giving up on them after two years and about 25 first dates. What a time waster. I've met better people in person. It really is a far better way to go about it.
Are you married yet? You say you've met better people in person but you still haven't found someone...? I met my husband via online dating (over 15 years ago...) and I found that I just had to be really picky about who I was willing to go out with. I have a ton of friends who also met their spouses through OLD, again, many years ago. Maybe the landscape has changed, and I don't doubt that there are possibly more people on it, which makes being picky even more important. As someone who was working a full-time job and otherwise living a busy social life, which my husband was also doing, but about 10 miles away from me, we would have never crossed paths had it not been for Match.
Nowadays the algorithm of the dating sites with the goal for people to see unsuitable matches. That way they keep coming back. Very disconcerting. I, too, met my husband online 20 years ago. All users had to do a psychological test and were recommended truly compatible people based on their psychological profiles. Cheating on the test was not possible.
