Trump didn’t come along and ruin the Republican Party. He is the Frankenstein they’ve been building. He is the inevitable progression of the path they’ve been on for years. The Party has abandoned all principles except for opposing the Democrats. The GOP can’t return to longtime political norms because they’ll lose their base. There aren’t enough conservative normies to get Republicans elected right now. Don’t make the mistake of thinking that their party was taken away from them; it was given away by party leaders.[/quote]
