Eight years ago I had a party and everyone went home early with a lot of the food uneaten. This time it might just be me with a pint of Ben and Jerry’s.
The 2016 election pretty much cured me of election night parties. We started out very pleasantly with cocktails and then things slowly devolved and my DH and I went home at 11pm still sort of in disbelief. I wound up staying up until 4am working because I could not go to sleep and I couldn't do anything enjoyable so I just cranked out work product. In any case now I know to make comfort food at home that will last us for a few days and to keep my expectations low and also to just go ahead and go to bed at 10:30 and trust that the news -- good or bad -- will be there waiting for me in the morning (or in several days since it looks likely PA will take several day to count all its votes and it's probably going to be pivotal).
