Does sheetcaking mean what it sounds like? Eating loads of sheet cake?

Not PP but I think yes.

The 2016 election pretty much cured me of election night parties. We started out very pleasantly with cocktails and then things slowly devolved and my DH and I went home at 11pm still sort of in disbelief. I wound up staying up until 4am working because I could not go to sleep and I couldn't do anything enjoyable so I just cranked out work product.

In any case now I know to make comfort food at home that will last us for a few days and to keep my expectations low and also to just go ahead and go to bed at 10:30 and trust that the news -- good or bad -- will be there waiting for me in the morning (or in several days since it looks likely PA will take several day to count all its votes and it's probably going to be pivotal).

Ugh, good point. Terrible memories!

Yeah, the fun is gone from these events, too fraught. Like Obama vs Romney, sure, whatever - I wanted Obama but if Romney had won I would have gone to sleep at midnight and said, oh well, better luck in 4 years. Now it’s more of existential dread.

No, it's comfort food/drinks to fortify you for the long night (and possibly long days) ahead.

Yeah I said Indian food above and it's my comfort food + soaks up alcohol well

I agree. I will do Japanese curry.

Thanks -- I'm going to do this.

We are having what's basically Opposite Election Day 2016, so we're having over the people who hosted us on The Bad Night, plus other people who weren't there, and I'm serving food that in no way resembles what we ate then.

And I'm going to send people home with something to eat for breakfast, because we'll probably all be delirious by then. And not in a fun, Prince-y way.
