OP here—message received! We will use other criteria to choose which Ivy school(s) she will apply to. Michigan and Northwestern are definitely on the list.
Northwestern is ranked higher and harder to get into than some of the Ivies, fyi. I also think the vibe at Northwrstetn is different than most big 10 so it really depends what she likes about the big 10. Northwestern is way more geeky.
I went to Michigan and DC now at NU and agree NU is more Big 10 light relative to Michigan and the others-though Michigan about to go through a football slump after the last 3 years of glory. Oh well-maybe the new basketball coach will have success and there is still a ton of school spirit no matter what!
Do you think that Michigan football games will have terrrible attendance? I doubt the actual record means all that much unless as PP says that like NU they become consistently uncompetitive and make their stadium smaller.
Understand you are kidding. Single tickets for Michigan football games go for hundreds to thousands of dollars depending on the game (I'm on the parent facebook groups and am consistently shocked by this). Every game is sold out. The student tickets go through a lottery system and then the students sell to each other at jacked up prices. For a college football game.
It's a bit over the top. Please consider priorities. My son is attending U of M. Freshman right now. After the Texas game, he heard a kid saying how disappointed he was (in a serious voice) because the main reason he came to Michigan was the football. There's no question that sports success drives apps. But I think it shouldn't. Us college sports have become minor leagues for pro sports. That's insane. Also, I waa aghast that last year's QB got injured already and can't do his first NFL season. I hope he finishes his degree while healing.
