What an odd conclusion. You say your kid wants a Big 10 school due to XYZ, everyone tells you that Ivies don’t have XYZ, so you say you will now invent reasons 1,2,3 to figure out a reason to apply to an Ivy.
Is this a $$$ thing I wonder and you just won’t say that?
Although value will be one of the considerations, we are fortunate that it doesn't have to be a deciding factor.

No country club friends here. Math or physics and my husband has a Masters in CS from GT. It is on her list. Family members at UF now but she isn't interested in that one.

If your DD is looking for Big 10 atmosphere, steer her towards actual Big 10. There are smart kids and amazing programs at all kinds of colleges and I spent way too long hoping that the school of my dreams would be what I had actually imagined vs. what it really was.
Appreciate the observations. They reinforce that she shouldn't apply to an Ivy thinking she can replicate the Big 10 atmosphere.

Understand you are kidding. Single tickets for Michigan football games go for hundreds to thousands of dollars depending on the game (I'm on the parent facebook groups and am consistently shocked by this). Every game is sold out. The student tickets go through a lottery system and then the students sell to each other at jacked up prices. For a college football game.
It's a bit over the top. Please consider priorities. My son is attending U of M. Freshman right now. After the Texas game, he heard a kid saying how disappointed he was (in a serious voice) because the main reason he came to Michigan was the football.
There's no question that sports success drives apps. But I think it shouldn't. Us college sports have become minor leagues for pro sports. That's insane.
Also, I waa aghast that last year's QB got injured already and can't do his first NFL season. I hope he finishes his degree while healing.

OP, my kid that is at an Ivy this year wanted nothing to do with a Big Ten atmosphere or big football/tailgate culture.
He was looking for a school without a big greek presence. Not a big party school. And mid-size. Ticks the box for Ivies and SLACs.
I went to a big in-state public with that culture and loved it. I would not have found it at my kid's school.

Notre Dame will likely join the Big 10 as well in the next few years-their geography and culture matches well with the conference, and they will need to join a conference to keep themselves in playoff contention.

In 1980, The Ivy League wanted to expand. It engaged in discussions with Northwestern--which is a founding member of the big ten Conference. Northwestern shut down the discussions due to travel distance for athletic teams.
Northwestern is building a new football stadium with a lower seating capacity than the old stadium.
Consider USC, Michigan, UCLA, U Washington at Seattle, U Oregon, Northwestern, and Wisconsin all of which are now Big Ten Conference member schools.
Notre Dame, Duke, and Vanderbilt are others to consider as well.
