US News acquires a pile of data and manipulates indicators and weights until they get results that align with what they want. (If some year the University of Scranton came out on top, they’d just pick new indicators, because clearly those are “wrong”). Then, voila! Each year they adjust the weights/indicators to be excitingly different, but not TOO different. The idea that it represents meaningful difference, or even true educational quality, is ludicrous.[/quote]
