It’s not about respect and status in life. It’s about transparency and fairness to everyone including the customer. I want all restaurant staff to be paid fairly and I want to pay a fair price for my food and experience. I don’t understand why we have to muddy everything with Lady Bountiful-style handouts after the meal - which obviously costs much more than it would cost me to make, and that’s exactly what I’m paying for.
