In 2022, there were:

-a grand total of 17 people in Washington DC who were killed by car drivers

-nearly as many deaths, 15, were blamed on bicyclist/pedestrian/scooter errors

Look at the numbers. In 2022, there were 17 deaths attributed to cars. That's out of *billions* of trips taken. There were 15 deaths blamed on cyclists/scooters/pedestrians. How many people ride bikes or scooters in this city? Maybe 500?

No. Actual studies say drivers are less likely to abide by road rules than bicyclists. You can easily find these studies with a simple Google search. But be forewarned that reality may necessarily not be in the business of affirming your silly prejudices.

Funny that you cite 2022 data. Probably because you know that there were more road deaths in 2023 than in any year since 2007.

A woman in my DV neighborhood was killed on a crosswalk - which she was crossing with the signal - by a driver who literally had thousands in outstanding unpaid fines. But she doesn’t matter, right, because she is only one person? And we shouldn’t worry about the driver either because s/he only accumulated a couple of dozen tickets out of tens of thousands of trips right up until the point where s/he killed someone.

The police data says 15 cyclists/scooters/pedestrians were at fault in traffic accidents in which they died. We don't know if cars were even involved in those accidents. The statistics don't say.
