It appears that no matter what any president (or governor) does to try to stop the flow of migrants it works at first but eventually the numbers increase again. That is because whatever they encounter on their trip to the border and whatever they encounter once they get there or into the US is not worse than the life they are trying to leave. People in the US who don't understand this and appear to think they are coming here to ruin our lives are very ignorant and entitled.
I do understand their lives suck down there. That does not mean they get to break the law to come here.
Simple concept. Not so simple if it's you and your family, children, who are suffering and in danger. Hardly anybody in the US knows what that is like. What would you do if it were you? Wait around for years or maybe never for a legal chance at a better life?
NP here and I totally get this and I don’t blame any migrant on a personal level for trying to do whatever they can for their family. I’m sure in their shoes I’d do the same thing. However immigration is just a bandaid to a much bigger issue of certain countries being run by drug lords. We can keep letting people into our country in theory, but then there will just be new children being born there and new arrivals fleeing this same violence. So we’re forever treating the symptom of the violence and 100 years from now our grandkids will still be having the same immigration debates. Why can’t more be done to help these people fight back and get actual leadership that isn’t corrupt?
US has provided those countries a ton of aid, but the government is corrupt and/or the drug lords are stronger. Look at how the mayors in MX are gunned down. There's a news story of this happening just this past week.
