I think you nailed it. Is there any other reason to wear a wedding band?

I can think of four reasons to wear it:
1 - To advertize that you are not available.
2 - To show that you manged to "get married" - a significant accomplishment in the eyes of some.
3 - You are afraid of being judged if you take it off.
4 - Everyone else is doing it.

Are there better reasons I missed?

My husband wore his wedding band on our honeymoon -- that was it. He used to be a fighter pilot and couldn't wear jewelry of any kind. I wore my engagement/wedding band set for maybe a month after our wedding, then again during private school tours and to a couple of business functions with my husband (to assure those who judge that we were in fact married). That's it. We will celebrate our 12th wedding anniversary in two weeks and have an incredibly strong marriage.
