My DS got it at the pediatrician as a regular vaccine at age 12. No I didn't discuss what vaccine it was, he was just told he has to get it, like all the other childhood vaccines. (Not that I'm against discussing STD's but I don't think he cares why he's getting that specific vaccine). FWIW for my younger DS the pediatrician was pushing us to vaccinate him at age 9, but I'm holding off a while.
Same! Our doc pushed it on both my kids starting at 9 year old well checkups (!). Mine are now 10 and 14 and we are holding off as long as possible. They have gotten so many more vaccines than normal these last 3 years with all the Covid vaccines and boosters so I want their bodies to have more time to spread them out as much as possible. I've spoken to many different physicians in various fields of medicine, and they all say delaying HPV is completely FINE, so don't let your doc talk you into giving it too early!!!
This is not smart. If you wait too long, your kids may get exposed to the cancer-causing variants of HPV. Why risk it?
