There is nothing controversial about it. It prevents cancer. Period.

My dd had her vaccine at 14 and she already had HPV. The pediatrician said it was becoming more common in middle school so they changed the age to about 11 years old.
HPV is more common in middle school? Reading this thread right after the condom thread is wild.
Yes, MS kids are having oral sex.

No I didn't discuss what vaccine it was, he was just told he has to get it, like all the other childhood vaccines. (Not that I'm against discussing STD's but I don't think he cares why he's getting that specific vaccine).
FWIW for my younger DS the pediatrician was pushing us to vaccinate him at age 9, but I'm holding off a while.
Same! Our doc pushed it on both my kids starting at 9 year old well checkups (!). Mine are now 10 and 14 and we are holding off as long as possible. They have gotten so many more vaccines than normal these last 3 years with all the Covid vaccines and boosters so I want their bodies to have more time to spread them out as much as possible. I've spoken to many different physicians in various fields of medicine, and they all say delaying HPV is completely FINE, so don't let your doc talk you into giving it too early!!!

That’s a bad choice considering how many kids have sexual contact before then.
It’s not a bad choice. If you have a good relationship with your kids, trust them to do the right thing, and not have sexual contact before then.
