It's a generic good but not great SLAC. As much as the initial posters debated F&M vs Dickinson and Gettysburg, I'd lump them together along with Skidmore, most of the Ohio SLACs (Denison, Kenyon, Oberlin minus the conservatory), St Olaf, Macalester and a dozen other schools and consider them interchangeable. They might be similar in terms of being LACs that aren’t the highest selectivity, and that PP isn’t interested in, but the above are wildly different schools. Strongly recommend not lumping them together[/quote]

For a very smart MC kid who wants to go to a SLAC and needs merit, applying to several of those schools and taking the one that offers the best merit would be a normal strategy [/quote]

Agree, and that’s what my second kid did! But to say that Gettysburg, St. Olaf, and Oberlin are “interchangeable” is misleading. A kid will have very different experiences on each of those campuses[/quote]
