[/quote] Is it possible that because of your bland demeanor, they think there's a language barrier? Sometimes I can't tell if the person I'm talking to understands me or is just saying yes yes to get it over with. I'm a government employee, not in immigration. But I often switch gears and call the interpreter service and once we get to talking through an interpreter learn the person has lots of questions and lots of input they weren't even trying to communicate before. And when I offered an interpreter they declined at first (but I do it anyway if I think it's needed). [/quote]
