This is ridiculous.  Few get into ivies. Those that don’t go to wash u which I guess brings up wash u’s average gpa and test score for the student body. The applicant being denied an ivy spot isn’t dumber - it’s the same applicant. I’d love for my kid to get into any school where lots of highly qualified kids go when they don’t get into an ivy. You meant this as an insult but it isn’t. Esp since ivies decline kids who are more qualified or equally qualified as those they admitted. [/quote]

Wash. U. is one of the top schools that gives out merit aid. It definitely steals some students from Harvard and Yale that way.
