https://www.ussoccercollective.com/mls/mls-academy-rankings That is a reputable ranking of MLS academies. It’s not a secret that DCU’s ranking is dismal considering the talent in this soccer-rich metro area. Less dense areas are doing better. The biggest pro for DCU is the name recognition and that it’s free. But you should definitely keep tabs on your kids development and not relying exclusively on the academy for their development, especially at the younger ages.
What exactly and specifically are the rankings criterion and how is it applicable to each individual player's development? It's like those 'best small town in America' awards No one is yet to answer the question, what are local clubs doing better than DCU to develop players?
If u read the article, criteria is talent identification, player recruiting, player retainment, player development and pathway opportunity. One example, DC doesn’t do any Id activities until practically MLSNext ages. Look into Philadelphia and NYs development programs and compare it to Dcu. See how early they start. They cobble kids developed at other clubs with no consistency/guidance provided. They take credit for developing players with barely any credit to local clubs who did the actual development. Very poor or selective community building of support for Dcu.
"...criteria is talent identification, player recruiting, player retainment, player development and pathway opportunity" Everything here will need a weighted and points value scale to not just be arbitrary. It's not objective and can't be definitively measured. You're saying DCU's development of it's players is poor because of what happens with those players before they get to DCU? Grassroots Clubs all over the globe play a part in developing young players before they get into Academies. Academies are measured by the Individual Development Plan and growth of players after they get them. I'm sure there is room for improvement at the DCU Academy as all other academies in America have different areas that need improvement. You quite clearly have a personal gripe and wish to spread a tainted narrative.
Eh, despite their drawbacks, no one knows better so they will be unaffected by this anonymous forum. So don’t have to worry about that. But it’s not new either. DCU academy has always been a colossal disappointment - again, as compared to other academies in metro areas. There is no new tainted narrative to share. It’s long been tainted.
Well, if you say so, then it must be objective facts and truths.
