Like OP, I worked before quitting to stay home once we had our third, and my DH and I made similar salaries. So I have some retirement savings continuing to grow, we had a good start on college savings, and of course we bought when interest rates were low. It’s not “savings” exactly but do keep in mind that a family with only one income earner making around 150K will pay significantly less in taxes than they were when there were two earners (and fewer dependents). It certainly allows for some breathing room, anyway.[/quote]
