I've never heard of such a sentence 30 to life is more than many murderers receive. I am shocked.
I think the victims may have been minors  Looking at the California penal code, the only rape charge that assesses "15 years to life" is the rape of a minor under 14. So do that x2 victims and it's 30 to life. See para 264 for the typical rape penalty - 3, 6, or 8 years for each count See para 269 for penalty against minors under 14: https://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/codes_displayText.xhtml?lawCode=PEN&division=&title=9.&part=1.&chapter=1.&article=
Nope, they were in their 20s. Prosecutors alleged that Masterson raped a 23-year-old woman sometime in 2001; a 28-year-old woman in April 2003; and a 23-year-old woman between October and December 2003. https://people.com/tv/danny-masterson-charged-rape-timeline-of-allegations/
Then its not clear to me how he gets 30 years to life. If he already has a felony conviction in California ('one strike'), I think he can get sentencing enhancements under the "3 strikes" framework. But looking at the penal code I don't see how he could be facing at a life sentence. I'm wondering if he triggered the 3 Strikes rule, which is 25 years to life (not 30).
He will be eligible for parole in his late 70s. Apparently, this is the relevant part of the penal code. Judges have a lot of discretion in sentencing. The community voted him out of a job after this happened.
