The decision was reversed today. AP Psy is now allowed in FL in its entirety.
If true, this is a relief and good news.
Appears true. Florida Commissioner of Education tells superintendents to teach AP Psychology “in its entirety” https://www.actionnewsjax.com/news/college-board-florida-department-education-trade-blows-over-ap-psychology-course/METEWIQ2UVCYXBGXHM36LULE5Y/ There are 30,000 Florida students signed up for this class, btw. Offered at 562 different Florida high schools.
OP here. I hadn't read this. Thanks for the followup. So, FL blinked first. Awesome. I guess the pressure by schools and students made FL reverse course. These students are our future. Glad they have more sense than Desantis.
As I expected, they did not blink. They just pushed the problem from AP to the school districts. Nobody is offering AP Psych because the teachers will have to violate the law to teach it: https://www.washingtonpost.com/education/2023/08/09/florida-schools-drop-ap-psychology-class/
Sad sad sad. A dictator making teachers afraid to teach content that HSers can deal with. Smacks of communist leaders who mandated what teachers could teach.
