Same thing happened to me as a teen when I was walking my dog, except he was attacked by a Rottweiler. The Rottie was being walked off leash by another teen, no older than 1-143! That dog didn't even have a collar on, and it was so hard to pull him away as he was all muscle. He nearly killed my dog who needed extensive neck stitches. 
I live in an apartment building now that does not allow Pitts, Rottweilers, German Shepherds and Dobermans. Smart dogs, but their jaws are deadly. [/quote]
