I am all for children having fun, going to the store for a snack after school, then on to the rec ctr to hang with friends, etc. It pains me, however, to avoid certain playgrounds or to travel across town so that my young children can play without be exposed to certain language and behavior.

I have worked with many young people from impoverished backgrounds and otherwise over the years and I know that a lot of this nonsense is posturing. When confronted about their unsuitable behavior or unfortunate choices, most are embarrassed.[/quote]
