UVA is every bit as good as UTA for business.
UVA McIntire is much better in fact. The catch is you have to apply for the business program in 2nd year. The acceptance rate to the program is around 55-60% Big risk but it's much better than UTA. I would not choose either for Business especially when UTA is OOS People should know what they are talking about.
No one refers to UT as UTA. I say this as a Texan and UT grad.
+1. Don't take advice from anyone who refers to Texas as UTA. Ever. OP, I would argue that they may be pretty equal. I graduated from Texas and loved my time there. It's a great school...but it is HUGE. If your child is not a self-starter, UT is not the place for him/her. I found it overwhelming my first year because I had spent my life in a small private school. The adjustment took a while. That said, the level of education, extracurriculars, diversity, and offerings were top notch. Take ATX for what it's worth. When I was in school there, it was "weird". Now, it's the hype that is ATX. That can be good or bad but it is a booming metro area, very diverse, and quite expensive these days. I think anyone can find a space for them in the city. It's also hot as hades so that's something to consider. If I lived in TX, I would send my kids to UT. However, I'm a VA resident so see no need because we have UVA. Visit both and have your kid decide. Either would be a great option.
It's actually refreshing to see a well informed response.
