I agree there are benefits of being in a sorority (think less so in a fraternity where the main objective does seem to be partying)--the comradery, there are leadership opportunities, and you can use it for networking in your career--but you can have ALL of that even if you're not in a sorority.

I seriously hope both my kids take the non-Greek route. It's not necessary--you can have friends, party, etc. without having to pay $$$ to be part of an organization that requires you to meet what could end up being fatal requirements to "fit in." Your true friends wouldn't force you to drink a gallon of whiskey--the entire concept is perverse.  [/quote]
