it's horrible around here now. At little river turnpike and 495 there is the same 4 people on each corner they all work 8 hours a day, the same older guy with the elbow brace and cane "works" there constantly. Why can't he get a job if he's out there 40+ hours a week? Also they leave their trash everywhere on the corner even though in 10 feet there are trash cans. Don't pay these people to litter.
Drives me nuts! They leave so much trash at the corners.
And not just trash - water bottles filled with urine. I do not understand how this is allowed/legal - it's disgusting.
There is a man who panhandles everyday at the Bradlee Center McDonalds on King Street in Alexandria. He lives across the street in the bushes which is across the city/county line in Arlington. In those bushes he’s accumulated so much trash, including countless beer cans, a traffic cone and a red propane tank. When it gets windy the trash just blows all over the place. When he’s in the bushes, he’s usually standing there drinking beer (often with one foot in traffic). When he’s across the street in Alexandria at McDonalds, he’s at the end of the drive through lane right after you pay and collect your food. He’s filthy, usually drunk. Neither Alexandria nor Arlington will do ANYTHING about him. I’ve contacted both jurisdictions and they say there is nothing they can do. Why is he allowed to litter like that? And you know he’s probably peeing/pooping in those bushes as well. Those poor people in Fairlington whose house/yard backs up to the bushes where he’s living. It must smell awful. I don’t know how he hasn’t died of exposure, alcohol poisoning or been hit by a car. And now sometimes there is a second person begging at the McDonalds (a woman with a rolling suitcase who I believe lives off of the 395/King Street exit ramp bc we saw her yesterday walking around there). We drive down King several times a day and the man is always there, always, and now often the woman.
