I just complete the program. There are some good parts that could/should be included in a lot of high school curriculums (health, business, any career development program, communications, child development, etc.) However, it is a HUGE mistake to just stick it into an advisory period. Most teachers are dreading it, and the kids will not buy in. It doesn't meet the needs of most of our students, particularly those coming from poverty or trauma. A lot of advisory periods are not taught by teachers of the students classes. Just random teacher assigned to group of students by alphabet. There is not lot of trust or relationship to work from in these situations. A lot of students are still struggling with very basic communication and relationship skills. This program doesn't meet those needs well.
Your last sentence describes all of the kids in PreK/head start, English language learners in the early grades and, in general, most primary age students. So again, we need to find different programs for different age levels. Bottom line, it doesn’t sound like leader in me is it.
