Would this have been decided yet? The contract extension for 2022-23 was approved in February 2022.

Seems doubtful especially since it's such a well-respected program.
If this is MCPS PR, you're laughably transparent. Please just stop. You only inflame more tensions with these dumb platitudes.
It's genuine. It's a great program. I'm not sure why these posters have to bash eerything.

It's true. Those kids are the ones all the other kids follow. They laugh at their jokes, sit where they sit, wear what they wear. They have real leadership abilities. Instead of being recognized as leaders, they're a threat to the teacher.
Maybe in some Hollywood movie but in real-life not so much.

Anonymous wrote:I just complete the program. There are some good parts that could/should be included in a lot of high school curriculums (health, business, any career development program, communications, child development, etc.)
However, it is a HUGE mistake to just stick it into an advisory period. Most teachers are dreading it, and the kids will not buy in.
It doesn't meet the needs of most of our students, particularly those coming from poverty or trauma.
A lot of advisory periods are not taught by teachers of the students classes. Just random teacher assigned to group of students by alphabet. There is not lot of trust or relationship to work from in these situations.
A lot of students are still struggling with very basic communication and relationship skills. This program doesn't meet those needs well.

There are lots of other student leaders at school in lots of other contexts.
