Duncan received a grand total of 12 donations after Cheh's "endorsement" - it did nothing for Duncan or Frumin. The Washington Post clearly still carries sway in Ward 3, as little else explains Goulet's showing.
Actually because Eric got the nomination, DFER got heavily involved in his campaign. Here are all the Wash Post Nominees Mayor: Muriel E. Bowser (Winner) Attorney General: Brian Schwalb (Winner) Delegate to the U.S. House of Representatives: Eleanor Holmes Norton (Winner) D.C. Council: Chairman: Phil Mendelson (Winner) At-Large: Nate Fleming (Loser) Ward 1: Salah Czapary (Loser) Ward 3: Eric Goulet (Loser) Ward 5: Faith Gibson Hubbard (Loser) The Post went 4-4 Bowser, Norton were easy picks. Mendelson was a favorite. Ward 1 was a radical pick and lost. The other 3, which would be considered major picks of new candidates (Fleming, Czapary, and Hubbard), all lost. So I don't think the Wash Post has as much sway as people think
Sorry I should add that the one pick for a new candidate that worked was Brian Schwalb for AG.
