I’m a woman but I need to say this: Do not try to change for the dating scene. Men always complain that women change after getting married and having kids, and some of that is due to women trying to be somebody they are not when they were dating. Having kids saps you of so much energy and it’s going to be almost impossible to keep up with how much you authentically want to act and groom. The fake stuff you add to catch a man is unsustainable.
Many women agree with you, as one can tell from their dating app profile pics that clearly say, "I'm not even trying".
Perhaps. But maybe they way they take care of themselves is just not what is attractive to you. Like I have always taken care of my health and my skin, and I wear minimal makeup. I never wear jewelry and though I wear clothes that fit my fashion sense is not great. I wear my hair in its natural waves and never get highlights or anything. Many men probably look at me and think I don’t try, and that’s okay. I’m not for everybody. But I also never feel pressure to get back to how I was when I was dating my husband 15 years ago because the way I presented myself then wasn’t an act I had to sustain.
