You are so wrong, OP. It is a Memorial Day barbecue! Of course she’d like a drink she enjoys. I don’t drink much because of calories but I knew this weekend I would splurge and have a drink at a barbecue one day and a restaurant the next. It’s a holiday weekend and beginning of summer. I’d say she’s the exact opposite of what you are describing.

And like most said, she is family. How long have they been married? A few weeks? If not then you know her preference and so why would you not have a bottle of gin just for her on a top shelf. Grab a lime and small cans of tonic at the store when buying your wine. Team SIL here.

I have a good friend who can only drink one type of wine because of migraines. She brought a bottle ONCE and told me about it. Guess what..every time she is coming over I get that wine for her as I don’t drink it.

And funnily enough, my dh is not a beer or wine drinker and never has been. He will occasionally but his preference is gin and tonic! We go to a yearly party and they always say, “ hi Larlo, gin right here for you.”

I could see if none of you drink and she did this. All she is doing is having drink like the rest of you but in a beverage she likes. Next time tell her you have her covered:)[/quote]
