For me the most offensive thing about these women is that they are label whoring trashy crap. Not everything needs to be expensive I have cute tos from old navy but would never even put on a juicy track suit let alone wear it as a status symbol

I don't feel this way. I looove this area. I grew up here, went away for school and abroad for a few years, but returned eventually to have a family. I love all the diversity, the things to do, the educational opportunities, the constant changing and updating, the educated citizenry, I could go on and on. I would not want to live in an area that didn't have these things. So I believe I'd be very unhappy in a place like OP has described and would really feel like a fish out of water. So, in the end, I guess it's good that people have diff tastes and diff opinions on the ideal place to live, or else we'd all end up trying to live in the same place!

ITA. I wish DH could find a job somewhere in the South. My ideal is Wilmington, NC. I can find a teaching job anywhere, but he is the primary breadwinner and his work is here for now. I would love to get a house that is twice the size of our tiny 1950s rambler for $200,000 and have a short commute for both of us and a great quality of life.

They win, hands down. DC is so overrated. And I'm from here.

I don't go around criticizing people are talking about how I am better than someone that wears juicy or is a white trash "millionaire", I just am never around it and don't care to be. I go on with my life as if it doesn't exist. Maybe that's the difference I don't sit around and belittle them bc it's not even something I think about
