30,500 students attend VA Tech. No. They are not all conservative. AND--the majority of students are from NoVA. None of my friends were conservatives. And many work in very 'liberal' areas today. Blacksburg is a college town. The University dominates the town which leads the area to be much more liberal than SW VA as a whole. It is definitely less conservative than Richmond or even UVA. UVA and U Richmond students are a bunch of little Republicans. A sea of Patagonia vests and bow ties.
Vineyard Vines, Lily, Patagonia, Bow ties and Republicans. Not at VT.
Very Southern Conservative. Good 'ol boys, wealthy republicans.
^^ U. Richmond & UVA. The dress is certainly very conservative. You could get zinged for not wearing the 'conservative preppy uniform'.
That may have been the case 30 years ago, but to my eyes it sure doesn't seem true any longer.
+1UVa students may dress for certain occasions (rush, formals, debate) but day to day? The women are in athleisure and the guys are in shorts/sweatpants and tshirts/hoodies. Based on what the women wear to evening football games for going out afterward, dear old Lily would roll in her grave. People on here need to stop saying outdated things like they’re still current. Whether it’s admissions to finding a roommate to attire.
Do they still have FoxField?
Yes and what’s your point? Traditionally yes people go to horse races on preppy attire, ever hear if the Kentucky derby? Yes girls will be in sundresses and guys will probably be in khakis and polos. Day to day though, they wear ALOT of Lululemon and sweats. Boys wear whatever boys normally wear.
