What I don’t understand is why we even need mandates. You can look at the vaccine data, and see that it’s very effective. Why dig in your heels and wait for the government to tell you to get vaccinated, or wear a mask? What happened to common sense? Self-preservation? Caring about the common good?
That’s the point of the truck rally. If 85% are vaccinated, but they are still protesting, clearly they are not protesting about vaccines but rather are protesting against government authority and over-control. This is what liberals just don’t get or wont admit and they’ll post vitriol against anyone who thinks differently than them.
Oh come on. There are far better and more important things to protest than vax mandates. This just comes across as pouty petulant 5 year old "no, I won't eat my vegetables" especially when coupled with the fact that refusing vaccines is literally getting people killed.
Refusing vaccines gets *yourself* killed - if you are very unlucky. Most won't die. Maybe they get sick but that's it. Death is highly correlated with age and health conditions. But more to the point, if YOU are vaccinated, then why do you care if someone else isn't vaccinated? It's their life, not yours? The vaccinates *don't* stop the spread of COVID. Nor do they stop you from getting COVID. We see this especially with OMICRON. It's quite telling that all this shrieking of authoritarian fascist Trumpers whatever ignore the authoritarian fascism hidden in vaccinate mandates and lockdowns and censorship and refusing to cover dissenting or contrasting viewpoints and refusing to acknowledge that maybe you weren't right but instead doubling down and cheering the use of the power of the state to order private industries what to do. That's authoritarianism. That's what fascists do. Not people protesting in convoys in ostensibly a liberal democracy. A liberal democracy does not make it illegal for people to protest - which is one of the Canadian provinces just did. It's what fascists do. And fascists always justify their behaviors in the name of the common good.
