A 3 hour delay is very generous given most of y’all already work from home. Commuting from the bedroom to your home office must be real tough
Seriously, there have been dozens of posts on this and yet some people still can’t seem to get it through their thick skulls. The OPM delays/closures don’t apply to most teleworking feds. However there are 10s of thousands of us whose jobs require reporting to the office in person on a daily basis (plus many non feds whose place of work follow OPM guidelines). If that doesn’t apply to you then move along.
Correct. It does, however, screw over teleworking parents who send their kids to child care centers located at federal facilities. Since they're teleworkers (involuntary teleworkers, in some situations), they're expected to work. Under previous rules, parents could get admin leave, since the weather closure of the child care center, and the resulting presence of the kids at home, meant the home was no longer an approved alternate worksite. However, the OPM interpretation granting that allowance made it contingent on the agency having a policy that precluded parents from working with kids at home. Most agencies I'm aware of got rid of that rule during the pandemic. But you're still expected to take leave for any time spent caring for the kids. That's not a big deal if you're kids are school-aged, but if you've got infants/toddlers around, that's going to be the whole time.
