Friedson is the most competent one on the council. You got Jawando who hates police and thinks everyone is out to get him. Riemer and Hucker whose opinions change based on whatever will get them elected. Navarro who's just not that bright. Katz is OK (the only actual businessperson on the Council) but doesnt' seem to stand up for the people much. Albornoz is a ladder-climber but also a yes-man. Friedson does stuff like question why the county needs to pass toothless resolutions on international affairs for example. (Leave that for Congress please).
I will say that, IME, Hucker is typically very responsive to constituent concerns (I’m in his district). I may not agree with him in everything but I feel like he does listen to people. He’s not eligible for another term though, right?
He is, but he's running for County Executive.
LOL. Guess someone doesn’t feel very confident that he can win in a district without TP votes and probably also knows better than anyone how weak Riemer is.
These people can’t help themselves. I was hoping fewer candidates would throw their hat in the ring this time so that we had a chance of getting rid of Elrich but they’re all going to split the vote again aren’t they. I’d actually prefer Hucker over Reimer/Elrich but don’t think he’d win, I think he’s more likely siphon off votes from Blair.
He’s clearly taking votes from Riemer. He’ll probably even centerpiece his campaign in how he delivered Thrive, which was DOA out of committee by Riemer, through his adept skills or whatever as council president. Running on Thrive is a sure loser countywide. But for the people who care about this crap, he’s probably going to present himself as offering a “mature” choice to Riemer. It’s honestly funny. I love schadenfreude and Riemer and Anderson deserve it.
