I think that is easy to claim and a good way to downplay consumerism and excessive spending while you push a progressive agenda.  But I’m sure she buys plenty of stuff new or is gifted it by designers.  She and Nancy both dress well considering they both have large chests which makes keeping it professional harder. She did tend to wear more designer clothes when she was first elected, and she got a lot of pushback. She’s toned it down quite a bit since. That’s why you won’t find many real fashion plates, even among women members of Congress. They want to look appropriate and professional, but their clothes should never be the story.  Pelosi is always perfectly tailored and clearly expensively dressed if you look closely, but it’s never flashy. [/quote]
