I wouldn't throw proximity to DC out of your considerations. Being able to go on a bike ride to Georgetown, etc is a huge bonus. That's where you will find culture, diversity, things happening, etc. North Virginia - Arlingon, Falls Church, Vienna, etc, are all just suburbs with maybe strip mall or two with some shops etc.
This has to be a joke post. Georgetown?
While Georgetown wouldn't be somewhere that comes to mind for me personally, the C&O canal is easy to get to from much of Arlington. Additionally, D.C. is easy to get to from other NOVA suburbs inside the beltway. D.C. restaurants, bars, museums, leisure activities, etc. are noteworthy. Living in Arlington, as opposed Vienna, may mean the OP will take advantage of D.C. for non-work related activities more often.
