While Georgetown wouldn't be somewhere that comes to mind for me personally, the C&O canal is easy to get to from much of Arlington. Additionally, D.C. is easy to get to from other NOVA suburbs inside the beltway. D.C. restaurants, bars, museums, leisure activities, etc. are noteworthy. Living in Arlington, as opposed Vienna, may mean the OP will take advantage of D.C. for non-work related activities more often.

I assume you mean diversity of opinion or skill, which I would say isn't something that really exists in the entire DMV.

However diversity of ethnicity NOVA has at a very high rate compared to almost anywhere... in the world.

FYI most folks around here haven't lived in other major cities (let alone DC) and walkability and diversity for them can mean totally different things to you.

Yup. I live in TOV, and I like it a lot, but I wouldn’t call it diverse.

I do concur with with recommendations of Falls Church City and Reston!

We are in Fox Mill in the Reston/Herndon area. We can walk to the grocery store and 5 restaurants, 4 local and a Glory Days. good Pizza, Thai, Chinese, and bagels. The ES is walkable for kids. There are parks close by. Reston town Center is bikeable using a bike path.

You can buy a nice 4 bedroom house for under 8K with a nice amount of land.

No one who knows the area refers to "North Virginia," and you've largely ignored the criteria important to OP.

Plus, no one thinks of Georgetown as some mecca of culture or diversity these days. You'd find more diversity at a typical NoVa strip mall than in Georgetown now.
