The redemption of our collective awfulness occurs every time a person serves others without selfish reward. I mean, I think we all "get" that in the terrestrial sense. So Christ's sacrifice is the ultimate version of that.

His sacrifice was not intended as a credit card without a limit upon which we can just rack up sin charges mindlessly. His sacrifice doesn't redeem us by...uh...magic. We have to do the actual work ourselves. We just have a blueprint by which to lay out our plan for our lives, aspirationally.
