To me that is what Jesus was teaching- yes you can love like that. We all can. What a wonderful world this would be if we loved each other as Jesus did.

That's what I learned in Catholic school. The 8th grade TL;DR version is that God locked the gates of Heaven when he ejected Adam and Eve. When Jesus died, God had to unlock the gate to let him back in. It was the original sin which locked the gate. Jesus's death redeemed that sin, and now the gate is open. That's what Jesus is the door means.

Imagine a cross is symbolic of intersecting light and dark. If people make mistakes by a mesure not in text but universal (say survival of the fittest) they die away. So, people live they’re great they’re horrible they die. But the soul still exists.

The soul has a karmic debt. Until you choose to refine your soul you inherit the sins of génèrerions before.

Jesus intercedes as half man half spirit with the authority to enter all realms, and willingly assert his free will. The deal is, people can have it if they believe.

Rhis is only the opportunity to connect. It doesn’t guarantee thriving in holiness. It means you have a path and a ticket on the bus.

It doesn’t mean you won’t be divorryrd etc etc

But it means you aren’t cast down for all of eternity because of the sins of forefathers

I think of Christ as an aspirational model for how a human might come to understand God, and while we cannot be like Christ, we can come to understand the very best of humanity can offer through the love and kindness of Christ.

When an ordinary person puts aside their personal interests entirely and makes sacrifices to help others, that person becomes something greater. In this ability we get a glimpse of what unconditional love might be at its source.

Christ's death was the unavoidable result of being that which cannot live among men, because, well, people are terrible a lot? One might say he died for what HE believed in, which are immutable truths outside of his "person", and the sacrifice of life reflects that which is given in service of this greater truth.

The redemption of our collective awfulness occurs every time a person serves others without selfish reward. I mean, I think we all "get" that in the terrestrial sense. So Christ's sacrifice is the ultimate version of that.

His sacrifice was not intended as a credit card without a limit upon which we can just rack up sin charges mindlessly. His sacrifice doesn't redeem us by...uh...magic. We have to do the actual work ourselves. We just have a blueprint by which to lay out our plan for our lives, aspirationally.
