How's the transition for a child not coming out of a CES? Are they at a disadvantage?
Possibly writing-wise, at first, but it wouldn’t be hard to catch up if they’re willing to take feedback and do the rewrites. Learning to take feedback was probably the biggest thing my kid got out of the CES. Working above grade level means you don’t get much criticism of your work in the early grades. In ES, if they’re not expected to use correct grammar to get a “meets expectations,” teachers often don’t mark it or even mention it. Also, CES kids have more experience with time-management on the larger projects. But an organized and conscientious kid would only need one panicky late night to figure out what’s what and do better on the next deadline. The only difference is that CES kids have already had their panicky late night.
