[/quote] She is a striver- people hate strivers.[/quote] In Australia/NZ there's the concept of "Tall Poppy Syndrome" and in Ireland it's called "having notions". They support their citizens working hard at sport/academics/the arts/work until they do well, then they turn around and try and knock them down to size. One good thing about America was that it was more tolerant of people who worked hard and achieved. I guess the internet exposed America's own tall poppy syndrome against "strivers".[/quote] "Striver" isn't an American term. [/quote]
