If he was in surgery, he was wearing a gown or two on top of that one. It is not like in the ER or a regular doctor's office.  It is not like he had time to take a shower.  Or maybe he didn't know he was speaking today. Could be fresh scrubs but better than wearing the sweatpants and old sweatshirts he threw on at 6am in this morning to commute to work.
