My DC (IEP for dyslexia) got a seat. Virtual learning has been fine for DC from an IEP perspective as DC has no attention challenges. Very torn because I think DC would benefit from in person learning, but not because of DC's IEP, but because most kids would benefit. None of DC's friends have an IEP and DC does not want the spot. Really didn't think she'd get the offer since her accommodations virtually are fine and I thought other kids were really struggling. Ugh.
I believe all IEPs are ranked the same, at least according to my Principal.
They are. It doesn’t matter if there’s 15 minutes of 15 hours on an IEP. If a kid had an iep on 10/5, they get preference but I also learned there is no preference among groups- all groups hold the same weight. I also have students with an IEP who are rocking DL and some who have a 504 who are drowning. I wish they let the schools make this choice, but understand that opens a can of worms.
