As the person whose privilege was being called out, I not bothered it by it. I am a privileged person and it's good to reflect on what that means for how I consider the police. For this, my commitment to non-violence comes from the Sermon on the Mount, so I'm not going to abandon a command of actual God, even if it conflicts with some notion of what I should do based on ideas of privilege. Second, I'm confident that I developed my ideas of when to call on the police based on my conversations with people who have less privilege than I do, not my UMC white neighbors (who mostly seem like they feel very free to call the police), so I don't feel like the call out is accurate.[/quote]
